Location: Croydon Council, Bernard Weatherill House, 8 Mint Walk, CR0 1EA
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: Deputy Head of Assets
Closing Date: Sunday 27 March 2026

About the Role

Croydon Council is seeking an experienced Senior Estates and Assets Manager to join the Estates and Asset Management Team within the Resources Department. This is a pivotal role that contributes to the strategic management of the Council's property portfolio, ensuring the optimal use of assets, generating income, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

You will take a proactive approach to asset management and help deliver the Corporate Asset Management Plan - supporting the Council's Medium - Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) through the innovative and efficient use of property assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic asset management of Croydon Council's property portfolio including operational and investment assets.
  • Lead on acquisitions, disposals, lease renewals, rent reviews, neighbourly matters and estate management initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Council's Asset Management Plan
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders, including developers, consultants, and public sector partners.
  • Promote multi-purpose use of assets and ensure alignment with Council-wide objectives.
  • Communicating complex information to specialist and non-specialist colleagues sufficiently to aid their understanding, actions and approval.
  • Ensure accurate property data management in collaboration with the Estates Data Manager.
  • Ensure knowledge of health and safety law and public liability responsibilities relating to commercial assets etc.
  • Ensure best practice and compliance with RICS standards.

About You

You are an experienced property professional, MRICS qualified, with experience dealing with public sector organisations/portfolios and an understanding of legislation affecting local authority property.

You bring:

  • Proven experience in estates and asset management, particularly in landlord/tenant matters.
  • Strong ability to transact
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently, manage various projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Word, Excel, and property databases (e.g., Technology Forge).

Additional Information

  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous.
  • Site visits may involve working in challenging environments, including construction sites.
