About the opportunity

You'll join Xplor Pay and our Engineering team, the team that builds and supports the payment platforms that service our global customers.

Reporting into the SVP Payments Engineering, you'll work with your team to ensure projects and features are delivered on time and to best practice & quality guidelines. You and your team will support the business users of your platforms and ensure that they are running well. This position will manage engineering managers as well as individual contributors.

  • Design, document, develop and maintain software systems for use by internal staff and external customers.
  • Lead and contribute to technical decisions and solutions and drive decision making
  • Communicate with key stakeholders on delivery progress and timing
  • Ensure the systems are running well and software issues causing production problems are communicated and addressed in a timely fashion. Proactively manage stakeholder communication.
  • Develop expertise within the global team, so that knowledge is shared across the team ensuring smooth global functioning and capability building
  • Be responsible for managing the team members and help them develop their capabilities and grow their knowledge of systems and processes
  • Develop and mentor direct reports
  • Actively contribute to the engineering team culture and implementation of best practices
  • Actively manage communication with key stakeholders
  • Become the subject matter expert for the platform.
  • Communicate, escalate, and document when projects are behind schedule or are blocked
  • Use technical experience to help team members with technical aspects of their jobs
  • Review and provided feedback on product requirements, visual designs and testing plans
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with engineering departments including Product Management, Quality Assurance, DevOps and other engineering teams
  • Provide technical product improvement suggestions to improve quality, performance, maintainability
  • Lead cross team engineering activities

Qualifications

What would make me a good candidate?

  • Extensive experience in planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organisational units
  • Experience managing managers within an engineering department
  • Experience writing and managing test suite, code management, and CI, and excellent debugging and optimisation skills
  • Experience architecting scalable solutions to complex problems
  • Experience in CI/CD
  • Strong experience with SQL Server
  • Strong years of experience developing secure, RESTful API.
  • Good knowledge of agile software development life-cycles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong, clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Docker is a plus
  • Prior experience as a manager or as a technical lead is required
  • Experience coaching/mentoring junior engineers
  • Proactive, self-motivated learner with a strong drive to achieve personal goals
