Senior Engineering Manager - Manufacturing Transformation

Are you passionate about driving innovation and shaping the future of technology? We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Engineering Manager - Manufacturing Transformation to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing our organisation's capabilities by identifying, evaluating, and integrating new technologies and processes, with a specific focus on cyber-physical systems. You will be a strategic thinker with a strong engineering background and a proven track record in capability acquisition and integration of technologies using the MCRL framework.

This role will be based from our Global Head Office in Burgess Hill, West Sussex and is a great opportunity to work globally within the Semiconductor Service Division (VSS) and play a key role in the VSS Leadership Team to ensure our innovation objectives are achieved to improve our efficiency and capabilities with our Service Technology Centres. The role will have the opportunity to work from home on occasion and may require some international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Innovation: Develop and execute strategies to acquire cutting-edge technologies that align with our organisation's long-term vision.
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with senior leaders to identify capability gaps and seize opportunities for innovation.
  • Evaluate Emerging Technologies: Lead evaluations of emerging technologies and potential acquisitions, considering feasibility and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Seamless Integration: Oversee the seamless integration of new capabilities into existing systems, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Cyber-Physical Synergy: Prioritise the acquisition and integration of cyber-physical systems, enhancing the synergy between physical processes and digital technology.
  • Cross-Functional and External Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including R&D, product development, and operations) to drive effective integration.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay Ahead: Keep abreast of industry trends, advancements, and best practices to ensure our organization remains competitive and innovative.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure all acquired technologies and processes comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Projects, Budget Management and Reporting: Utilise project management tools and methodologies to track progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Efficiently manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and track project performance. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.

Skills/ Knowledge / Experience

  • A degree in Manufacturing or Engineering disciplines
  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment and leading teams with proven leadership skills
  • Comfortable working with a high degree of ambiguity without losing focus.
  • Extensive experience managing external stakeholders (suppliers, contractors).
  • High level of customer focus and strong communication skills across business areas.
  • Experience managing a broad portfolio of complex project utilising Project Management principles and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, VSM, PFMEA, and safety management tools.
