Salary: £41,208- £45,054 (plus a 10% Market Premia to be reviewed March 2025)

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer (Road Safety) within the Traffic & Signals Team in the Environment and Transport Department. We are looking for someone to commission and manage studies to identify, develop and deliver measures to provide an evidence-led approach to casualty reduction.

About the Role

This role will involve working alongside colleagues in the Traffic & Safety team, providing technical expertise on road safety collisions, undertaking road safety audits, and analysing collision data to develop road safety engineering projects.

You will have experience of supporting a portfolio of projects with a knowledge of project management principles. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with diverse priorities. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. In return you will get a chance to manage and support exciting and innovative projects that will provide the blueprint for road safety across Leicestershire

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Qualified Road Safety Auditor to GG119
  • Worked at a senior level in an engineering setting
  • Analysis or STATS19 collision data to develop and project manage significant road safety engineering projects or works programmes
  • Experience writing briefs to commission works based on outcome specifications, and preparing contract documents, assessing, and awarding contracts
  • Experience supervising and managing members of a team, both in technical aspects and performance management
  • Relevant technical guidance and standards; DMRB, TSM, Manual for Streets, Road Note 39, etc.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to shape and influence to achieve successful outcomes and to continue to build on the credibility of the Council and its services.
