Job Title: Senior Engineer – Outfit

Location: Scotstoun, various other BAE sites will be considered. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £44,500 dependent on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing technical equipment specifications; develop designs in line with all specifications and standards and co-ordinate with suppliers to ensure delivery to the agreed specification
• Producing Drawings for Outfit compartments/equipment for review by stakeholders and to allow Stage 2 to correctly model these spaces
• Carrying out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements
• Liaising with Internal/External Stakeholders in assigned areas on engineering matters
• Answering technical queries about work within their level of knowledge and competency
• Supporting Design Reviews as required
• Supporting junior staff development

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution
• Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered
• Experience in Engineering, Marine or Ship Building Industry, with strong Engineering Lifecycle Knowledge

Desirable:

• Experience/Understanding of Naval Ship/Commercial Ship/Oil & Gas Outfit Design
• Experience with CAD Software (AutoCAD/FORAN etc.)

The RCD (River Class Destroyer) Outfit team:

The RCD Outfit Team covers a large/varied range of systems/compartments within Ship Design. A truly wholeship scope, by volume, we own the largest number of Procurable Packages and Compartments within the design. The team covers items such as Blast Doors, Ships Windows, Insulation, Paint, Medical, Accommodation etc. The RCD programme is a truly international project, working with Canadian Industry/Government and international suppliers.
