This exciting opportunity is for the right person who is highly motivated and has an interest in minor injuries and illness. The applicant should be a Registered Practitioner with an expanded scope of practice and evidence of professional progression.

This role will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, treating and discharging patients attending for Urgent and Emergency treatment.

The post holder will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe effective and timely care practices within the MIU.

Provide clinical and professional leadership and supervision to nursing, supporting staff and students within the MIU.

Provide nursing leadership and expert input to ensure effective flow into and out of the Emergency Department (MIU) on a day-to-day basis

To promote an enabling, empowering and equitable culture, thereby ensuring services provided are of a high quality and are managed effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Emergency Nursing qualification (199, BSC or MSc) / Minor Injury Illness Course
  • Level 1/2 RCN Emergency Nursing Competencies
  • Triage and PGD competence
  • Paramedic Practitioner

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of quality, standard setting, benchmarking and audit
  • Knowledge of NMC/Paramedic Code of Professional Conduct
  • Extensive knowledge of speciality

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience within speciality or other critical care experience
  • Extensive experience of primary care and ED/Minor Injuries environments
  • Experience of conducting appraisals, managing performance

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Organisation and management skills
  • Articulate advanced written & oral communication skills
  • IT skills including use of email and office packages
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
