We are now recruiting for an Senior Electronics Engineer to join our busy team in Leeds. As a Senior Electronics Engineer at Instrumentel, the solutions you will create are expected to support our railway products and meet our high reliability and safety targets for years to come. You will have an opportunity to work in many areas of the systems life cycle demonstrating your capability in many new and exciting projects. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, review and testing of existing and new electronic hardware. In addition, where solutions deployed or to be deployed require an experienced engineer on client site, you are expected to be able to support as and when required. In a senior position you will be expected to mentor and develop others as well as show an awareness of business operations in supporting the products you produce as well as existing solutions.
Role and Responsibilities include;
- Take the lead in the design and critical review of electronic hardware (schematics, PCBs, drawings etc.) using appropriate CAE tools to ensure it complies with specified requirements.
- Provide solutions to Hardware related challenges, test solutions, option selection, requirements analysis.
- Produce, critically appraise and test circuits both in theory and practice as part of a test solution and development process.
- Design and deliver products and projects in the railway and automotive industries.
- Apply analysis methods such as FEMA, FEMCA, Hazard, Risk or Kepner-Tregoe.
- System engineering and integration with safety-critical systems with sign-off and commissioning of the same.
- Work closely with customers, and work on their site to their requirement and standard.
- Write and review design/technical/installation specifications and plans to support development and testing including functional testing and compliance such as EMC and Environmental.
- Support the planning of experiments in order to evaluate complex systems.
- Application of standards e.g. company design guides, EMC, Environmental, EN50155, EN50121, EN45545.
- Estimate workload required to deliver solutions to technical problems.
- Communicate effectively, in speech and writing.
- Build effective working relationships with the team and with other key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect that ensure the resolution of problems locally.

The successful candidate must hold GCSE's A-C (or equivalent) in Maths and English and be qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Candidates must be familiar with PCB schematics and board layout, and have previous experience in mixed circuit design and prototype design, building and testing, and have an understanding of analogue and digital applications of common circuit components.
Due to the technical nature of the role, the post holder will need to have experience in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. Knowledge of installation and maintenance in the Railway industry would be beneficial. Previous experience of building and testing of components is required in the role. These technical skills are critical to the success of the role and the department.
