Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
To support our journey and rapid growth we are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join us. Reporting to our Head of Electronics, you will provide support across projects and teams to design, implement and test motor control units to meet the system and equipment requirements and to a certifiable standard for aerospace applications.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Take a lead role in the inverter and converter hardware development - especially highly integrated control electronics and integration of various sensors in electric propulsion systems
- Contribute to defining and reviewing specifications
- Lead and/or contribute to design reviews
- Support the safety case (ARP4754A/DO254) of the system
- Design, develop, debug and validate electronics hardware for use in inverter and converter products for aerospace applications
- Conduct simulation and evaluation of electrical and thermal circuit designs
- Perform schematic capture, PCB layout design and manufacturing support
- Evaluate component lifetime, limits and derating
- Lead and support electronics verification activities through the product lifecycle.
- Support EMC testing and the development of technical files
- Generate internal and external documentation including designs, analysis, simulation and reviews
- Contribute to developing the electronics / hardware departments technologies, capabilities, facilities, and processes
- Technically lead, guide and mentor engineers within the Hardware Team and across the business.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or a demonstrable level of relevant industrial experience
- Previous proven experience in relevant industry
- Demonstrated track record of engineering ability in electronics discipline
- Knowledge of mixed signal circuit design including analogue, digital, sensor and complex components
- Experience with electronic component selection and characterisation
- Previous experience of modelling, simulation and analysis of electronic circuits for inverter systems. Knowledge of either one or more of the following simulation tools: LTSpice, Simetrix and Matlab/Simulink
- Proficiency in circuit design, including schematic capture, PCB layout and component selection. Prior experience in Altium Designer is desirable.
- Experienced in performing design analysis, including worst-case, tolerance, thermal, stress analysis, component and product FMEA.
- Experience in designing for EMC compliance in accordance with DO160 or MIL STDs
- Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Experience developing products that comply with functional safety standards (such as ARP4754A/DO254/ISO 26262)
- Experience in working with high voltage / high current / high-energy systems, following safe systems of work is desirable
- Ability to interface with customers and suppliers, able to present information, detail requirements and understand issues
- Experience generating documentation to a high standard for both internal and external customers
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams
- Instinctive problem-solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approach

- Ability to work under pressure and manage conflict, demands and deadlines
