Senior Director, Distinguished Engineer, Platform Engineering

Responsible for shaping the future direction of their domain within the organization, assisting management to establish strategic roadmaps, and driving priorities to meet objectives. Will craft technical roadmaps that align with the organization's strategic direction whilst being cognizant of promoting technology innovation. Through facilitative leadership, influence and collaboration, will lead teams across the Technology organization. Will have a strong external and internal profile with contributions at conferences, published articles and/or patents. Roles are gated and only available to internal employees through an annual nomination process, where available capacity in the program exists.Provides vision, strategic direction and outside the box thinking to create new concepts associated with the deployment of a specific technology across the organization.Responsible for setting technology direction based on deep subject matter knowledge and may have ownership over large components.Identifies and challenges technical interdependencies and suggests solutions to address them and use quantitative analysis to impact key business decisions.Evaluates new ideas and technologies from internal and external sources and matches them with appropriate technology and business problems to yield pragmatic innovation.Collaborates on vision items and provides technical details around our competitive landscape.Teaches, grows and advises other domain experts, individual contributors, and teams in the organization, serving as a role model and mentor for the BNYM technical community.Develops and/or consults on internal training programs.Participates in national and international conferences and keeps abreast of current advances within a specific technical domain.Represents BNYM in professional societies, industry forums, government agencies and academic institutions.Present at relevant events (e.g., conferences, user groups, meetups, webinars).Write extensively about technology applicable to BNYM (e.g., blog posts, white papers).Individual contributor, on exception could manage micro teams.May manage and influence operating budgets related to the appropriate use of a technology domain approved plan.MODIFIED BASED UPON LOCAL REGULATIONS/REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from a top institution preferred. PhD in in Computer Science highly desirable.Only internal employees who are currently an S grade will be considered for nomination. 15+ years of experience preferred. Deep and broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies that affect the business. Demonstrated Executive and commercial presence, strong written and oral communications, solid judgement, reasoning and decision-making abilities. Experience collaborating and influencing teams across geographies and a matrix structure. Patents, publications, and/or technical presentations to industry groups desirable.
