We're currently looking for a Senior Digital Developer to join our Digital Development Team. Our Digital Development Team oversees the customer facing applications, and our responsibilities include helping with launching new products, enabling easy access to the company information (products, protocols, news, careers, etc), onboarding new customers, serving content in multiple languages, and many more.

The details..

In this exciting and varied role, you will work with the team to create a great user experience so our customers can succeed when working with our products. We are a cross functional team and, as such, we use many different technologies (from TypeScript and node.js, to Python and Ruby on Rails, including AWS and terraform in the mix).

As part of the team, you will be contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of web-based applications that support various internal and external functions including our corporate website. For this role, your focus will be on the front-end (TypeScript, Vue.js, web components, and Nuxt.js), but there are always opportunities to learn about other areas.

Some of the projects you might work on include:

  • Design and implement how our content editors should be adding content to our CMS and how that content will be rendered on our corporate website. Part of this work is thinking about internationalisation, mobile vs desktop, ease of use for editors, to name a few.
  • Create and maintain our web components library, in order to speed up the development process and to provide consistent solutions that can be used in multiple projects.
  • Migrate from a legacy CMS to a more modern and development friendly stack.

Duties include but are not limited to..

Application Development:

  • Collaborate with team members to develop, test, and maintain web applications using industry-standard programming languages and frameworks.
  • Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate the new development work to stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate.

Code Review and Optimization:

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Identify opportunities for code optimization and performance improvements.

Problem Solving:

  • Work closely with team members to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner, collaborating with team members as needed.

Documentation:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for developed applications, ensuring that documentation is comprehensive and up-to-date.
  • Document coding practices and standards to facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay informed about the latest trends, tools, and technologies in web development.
  • Actively participate in team discussions, share insights, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What we're looking for..

As we are looking for a senior developer, we expect you to help improving the skills of the team both through technical mentoring and best practices. We want you to show us how we can improve what we do. You'll have at least five years of experience working on problems like the ones we describe, but we are more interested in the things that you have done previously. How have you solved those problems before, how you built the solutions, and why do you think it was a success.

We expect you to communicate your ideas effectively. Healthy debate is important to us, and we want you to defend your opinions, but also to accept and commit to the decisions if they don't agree with yours.

In general, we are looking for a proactive and kind new member of the team!

We offer outstanding benefits to include an attractive bonus, generous pension contributions, private healthcare and an excellent starting salary. Based within beautiful, landscaped surroundings with tree-lined walks, water features and a lake, all of which make for a wonderful working environment.

If you are looking to utilise your skills to really make a difference to humankind, then consider joining our team and apply today!
