A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our well established Leicestershire paediatric, neonatal and women's nutrition and dietetic team for a Band 6 or Band 5 to 6 (with training and clinical supervision) Dietitian.

Are you wanting to develop your career in paediatric dietetics in an acute teaching Trust environment?

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, active team players with good communication skills, who enjoys working with children, to join our dedicated team.

The team provides a service to the Children's & Women's Clinical Management Group, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, one of the largest teaching Trusts in the country based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary site. This post will either be a training post to start your career off in Paediatric Dietetics as a band 5 Dietitian with progression to band 6 within a 9-12 month period on completion of a paediatric dietetic training programme including competency based assessments. Alternatively a Senior post at band 6 with previous experience in paediatrics. To provide a service on a rotational basis at band 5 or 6, alongside other team members, to a wide range of paediatric local and tertiary specialities.

Main duties of the job

You will have a great opportunity to develop broad experience in many aspects of paediatric, neonatal and women's dietetics in an acute setting as part of a high profile and valued team of 17 other Paediatric Dietitians working as core members of multi-professional teams with a dedicated Paediatric Dietetic Support Worker.

You will be joining our band 6 rotational programme spending half your time providing dietetic cover to our busy medical and surgical children's wards and general outpatient clinic and half working within one of 7 sub-specialities (Respiratory High Dependency care, Cardiology, Inherited Metabolic Disorders, Cystic Fibrosis, Ketogenic Diet Therapy, Paediatric Intensive Care and Diabetes) supported by band 7 senior specialist Dietitians.

These senior posts are fundamental to providing an inpatient and outpatient paediatric dietetic and nutrition service to children diagnosed with specific conditions who are managed on specialist diets.

You will be a core and valued member of the multi-disciplinary team for this speciality and group of patients.

Further responsibilities will include involvement in the pre-registration training of dietitians as we provide dedicated paediatric B and C clinical placements and you will play an active part in this.
