About The Role

Bespak is looking for a Senior Development Scientist for a permanent position based at their site in Holmes Chapel site, CW4 8BE. The salary for this role is £42,400K to £50K. Other benefits you will receive are 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, discretionary annual bonus, generous 10% pension contribution, onsite free parking, and medical / dental / health / life assurance.

Working Pattern - Monday to Friday (8:00 am to 4:00 pm) There is some flexibility on start and finish times.

As a Senior Development Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in technical and scientific projects across the Drug Product Development function team. The position involves delivering complex inhalation product development programs, spanning initial formulation design through scale-up of preclinical and clinical manufacturing processes to enable successful commercialisation. Your contributions will be pivotal in delivering effective, efficient, and compliant drug products You will also provide scientific expertise to support prospective new customers, identify opportunities for product and process improvements, and lead investigative and project activities.

Bespak in Holmes Chapel is an Investors in People Silver Award-winning pharmaceutical CDMO with over 350 employees, currently going through a period of significant site expansion. We are investing heavily to increase our capacity for developing and manufacturing sustainable pMDIs with greener propellants, meeting the evolving standards of the industry, while providing comprehensive development, manufacturing, filling, and finishing solutions for a range of medical devices, including SMIs, DPIs, nasal sprays.

As a Senior Development Scientist your duties will include:

Progressing complex inhalation product development from formulation to commercialisation, working with other experts across the business
Developing and optimizing combination product formulations for stability and safety.
Troubleshooting technical problems within the product development.
Working with third parties and suppliers to support the overall development process and complement and supplement in house capabilities
To identify and lead process improvement projects ensuring the technical development of the area.
To develop, maintain and ensure compliance for all systems and activities across the department.
Senior Development Scientist beneficial key skills and experience:
Advanced Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in a science-related discipline.
A minimum of four years' experience in a technical role within a pharmaceutical development environment. Direct experience in inhalation product development is preferred.
Broad and well-rounded technical understanding of the processes, equipment, and systems used in the development and manufacture of pharmaceuticals.
Strong practical, technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to critically evaluate and statistically analyse data to support product and process development, as well as root-cause problem solving.
Ability to clearly analyse and present data to internal stakeholders and customers to support scientific understanding and drive project outcomes.
Clear and effective written communication skills, with experience producing technical documentation such as protocols and reports.

The National Parks of the Peak District, Lake District and Eryri (Snowdonia) are within easy reach. The village has a population of nearly 7,000 and offers various amenities, including supermarkets, shops, restaurants, schools, and a GP practice.
