*This role is hybrid split 50/50 between the Bracknell office and home working*

We have an exciting Development vacancy within our Revenues & Benefits & Central Government teams.

Our development includes regular changes arising from new legislation as well as high profile changes and/or new software to allow our customers to quickly implement new government schemes. These provide much needed assistance to citizens and businesses throughout the UK. Examples include the COVID self-isolation payments, and the £150.00 energy rebate payments, Benefits Notifications Letters and Council Tax Bills. We also provide important systems for central government such the HGV Foreign Operator Levy and taxation systems for Revenues Scotland.

The role involves working on Java applications including for letter production used by these systems and also working on Oracle based applications supplied to our Central Government clients in the UK. As well as development of new components and releases you will also provide support for productions systems.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

• Proven track record of full life cycle development of large applications using Java Frameworks and Oracle.
• Solid experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, including Spring Boot. Experience of Junit for testing and Maven or Gradle for building is also required.
• Excellent Oracle and PL-SQL development skills.
• Experience of technologies including XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, HTML & CSS is desirable, as well as containerisation technologies such as Docker or Podman.
• Familiarity with version control systems; we use GIT & PVCS.
• Appreciation of application and data security
• Relevant Computer Sciences or Technical Degree.
• Ability to work on a task and solve problems independently
• Strong interpersonal/team skills.
• Must be able to cultivate an adaptable positive attitude.
• Will strive to deliver an excellent level of customer service.
• Will be highly motivated and demonstrate an excellent mix of analytical and technical skills
• You will have a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to learn new skills
