Role Overview
The Head of Supply Planning leads the Group's supply planning function, ensuring strong operational execution across availability, inventory performance, internal order flows, and inbound supply. This role manages the planning team, owns the supply planning governance framework, and drives the planning processes, logic, and metrics that ensure product is available to customers at the right time, in the right location, and at the right cost.
The role is balanced between operational execution and medium-term planning, with a focus on daily supply management, exception handling, intercompany order flow, inbound scheduling, inventory health, and data accuracy. The Head of Supply Planning works closely with Procurement, Logistics, Distribution Centres, Product, Commercial, Finance, and Quality to align supply requirements with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the Group supply planning function, setting expectations, priorities, and governance standards
  • Own the supply planning framework, including min/max logic, parameter settings, safety stock adherence, service and inventory reviews, and exception management
  • Drive visibility and clarity of supply chain results and performance metrics across the organisation
  • Coach, develop, and lead the supply planning team, ensuring a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Supply Planning Execution

  • Oversee daily and weekly supply execution including replenishment planning, PO management, inbound flow, and supply exception resolution
  • Manage internal stock transfers and intercompany orders between DCs
  • Lead short- and medium-term planning activities to anticipate supply risks and maintain service levels
  • Monitor and resolve supply issues such as shortages, delays, inbound past-due, back orders, aged orders, and internal movement failures

Inventory Management

  • Own inventory execution aligned with business goals for service, working capital, and inventory health
  • Monitor and action performance across safety stock, cycle stock, above-window, ageing, and VAR categories
  • Drive corrective actions to optimise stock levels, improve turns, and reduce obsolete and non-moving inventory
  • Support global inventory strategy and replenishment flows in partnership with Logistics and Procurement
    Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Procurement to align planning with supplier capability, MOQ, and lead-time structures
  • Partner with Logistics on inbound scheduling, freight constraints, and route-to-market optimisation
  • Collaborate with DC Operations on receiving processes, inbound capacity, and internal order routing
  • Work with Commercial to support customer commitments, supply risk reviews, and recovery plans
  • Partner with Finance to support working-capital reporting and inventory-related analysis
    Data, Systems & Process
  • Own supply-related master data including lead times, MOQs, reorder points, and planning parameters
  • Maintain data accuracy through disciplined data governance routines and audits
  • Support development of planning tools, dashboards, and reporting structures to improve visibility and decision-making
  • Contribute to future forecasting/demand planning capability as processes mature and support the ERP migration journey to BC365, ensuring planning logic, data integrity, and supply processes are embedded effectively

Improvement & Development

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across supply planning to enhance availability, efficiency, and cost management
  • Support adoption of new processes, systems, and best practices within the supply chain transformation programme
  • Drive visibility, insight, and structure to support future elements of S&OP and integrated planning

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in supply planning, materials planning, or wider supply chain operations
  • Strong understanding of replenishment logic, safety stock, inventory dynamics, planning parameters, and exception management
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong Excel and ERP competency
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to align cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to improve service, availability, and inventory outcomes
  • Comfortable operating in a complex, multi-SKU, multi-region environment
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline preferred
  • Professional supply chain qualification (APICS, CIPS, CILT) advantageous
  • Automotive or aftermarket experience beneficial but not essential
  • Experience supporting or participating in ERP or system-based transformations desirable
