Role Overview
As the Principal / Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design management process from pre-construction through to project completion. You will collaborate with clients, architects, consultants, and internal teams to ensure design excellence, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design process across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company standards.
- Manage design teams, including architects, consultants, and subcontractors, to ensure seamless coordination.
- Oversee pre-construction design development, ensuring feasibility, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure technical excellence, buildability, and risk mitigation throughout the design phase.
- Collaborate with commercial and construction teams to integrate design solutions into project delivery.
- Implement design management procedures, ensuring timely production and distribution of design information.
- Monitor design progress, identifying risks and ensuring solutions align with project objectives.
- Promote innovation, sustainability, and best practices in design management.
- Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, planning requirements, and industry standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in design management within main contracting, preferably in hospitality and high-end residential sectors.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in design software and project management tools.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and planning processes.
