Purpose

NBS Schuman offers premier design management consulting services to primarily high-end architects and architectural practices. We specialise in navigating the complexities of innovative architectural projects, ensuring our architect clients bring their visions to fruition with precision and clarity. We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to enrich our team with expertise and dedication.

The Senior Design Manager will be an integral link between our team and the architects we consult for. You will be responsible for overseeing and streamlining design management processes, ensuring that design objectives align seamlessly with architectural goals.
Key Responsibilities

1. Design Management:

  • Collaborate closely with architects to understand and refine design objectives.
  • Coordinate and streamline design processes, ensuring designs align with architectural concepts.
  • Introduce innovative design solutions and strategies to optimize project outcomes.

2. Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Foster a constructive dialogue between architects and the design team, ensuring unified objectives.
  • Mentor junior staff, encouraging creativity and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Engage in regular team and stakeholder meetings to guarantee transparent communication.

3. Architect Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for architects, ensuring their design visions are understood and realized.
  • Build lasting professional relationships, emphasizing trust and mutual respect.
  • Continuously liaise with architects, ensuring our design management strategies are aligned with their needs.

4. Quality & Design Assurance:

  • Implement rigorous quality assurance processes, ensuring design deliverables align with architectural expectations.
  • Provide feedback loops for iterative design improvements.

5. Resource & Budget Coordination:

  • Oversee resource allocation, ensuring efficiency and productivity in design operations.
  • Manage budgets related to design processes and resources, ensuring cost-effective operations.

Technical/Job Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degrees in architecture, Design Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage.
  • Post-qualification experience in design management, ideally in a consulting capacity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of the architectural design process and its intricacies.
  • Proficiency in design software like AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration between various teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience consulting for high-end architects.
  • Professional certifications in design, architecture, design management or project management.
  • Awareness of sustainable and eco-friendly design practices.
