We currently have a great opportunity for a Senior Demand Strategy Manager to join our Water Resources team in leading the demand strategy team for a period of up to 12 months.
About the role:
During this fixed term contract, you will be accountable for setting and overseeing the water demand strategy. You will build strong relationships with the senior management and executives responsible for delivery, ensuring that they are part of the journey of strategy development and are fully bought into our approaches. You will lead a team monitoring the delivery, tracking benefits of delivery, and you will continually review and optimise our strategy, building the evidence base for the future.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and lead a high performing team with a clear vision, objectives, and accountabilities.
- Leading and managing the Water Demand team, providing leadership direction, setting the people agenda and vision, maximising performance and facilitating a developmental environment.
- Planning and managing resources including all operational and capital costs/budgets associated with delivery of the day to day running of the team and delivery of new initiatives.
- Ensuring effective long term strategic demand planning to meet statutory requirements across the region.
- Overseeing the optimisation and/or adaption of delivery plans through the year and AMP to achieve overall targets.
- Own the investment cases for demand delivery.
- Engaging, as a key stakeholder, with the smart metering programme inputting strategic advice and guidance on demand related aspects as required.
- Working with subject experts to develop and deliver demand inputs to team deliverables such as WRMP, APR, ODIs and Price Review.
- Identifying innovative demand practices from industry, assess applicability and reflect in the Demand Strategy as appropriate.
- Building and maintaining relationships and credibility with the EA and wider industry regarding demand management aspects.
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement, with the right levels of coaching, training, and support for all colleagues.
What we are looking for:
- Scientific/ Environmental/ related Degree
- Track record of leading projects, programme or portfolio, preferably water demand planning
- Experienced taking ownership, being proactive, and working in collaboration, whilst holding others to account.
- Preparing regulatory submissions, such as annual reports and procedures for price control; including preparing the evidence, assurance, and demonstration of regulatory need.
- Experience working within an ambiguous and dynamic regulatory environment
- Developing and translating strategies and ideas into detailed approaches, options, plans and controls for delivery
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to facilitate management of own workload, and workload of direct and indirect teams to deliver to internal and external deadlines and quality expectations.
- Understanding of demand forecasting methodologies, demand-side management techniques, and strategies for promoting water efficiency and conservation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to water balance calculation, water loss management, and policies governing water abstraction, distribution, and consumption.
- Able and willing to travel throughout the region and to national meetings as needed with regulators and industry bodies
