Your role

Would you like to apply your diverse technical and people skills to help lead the way through UBS' AI transition?

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to:
• implement - AI for multiple use cases in the IB for our Sales functions, from LLM chat to knowledge graphs
• lead - a small team of data scientists and data engineers through an exciting time for UBS and the world
• innovate - solve for a huge variety of different revenue-generating and productivity issues we come across in our division - Global Markets in the IB
• model - use the latest (and oldest) statistical, causal, ML and AI models to get results
• code - use your extensive coding background to remains hands-on and deliver projects on our modern Azure, pyspark-based data infrastructure
• understand - how the IB business works, what our stakeholders and clients really need, and how you can make a difference

Your team

You'll be working in the Client Platforms Quants team in London or Zurich, focusing on analytics deliveries for Distribution. With our mandate in Global Markets, we provide high quality data and the understanding and insights that can be gained from them . This benefits our internal stakeholders (Sales, Trading and Management) and external Clients through improved service provision. As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll play an important role in the upcoming AI transformation at UBS, including sensible use of existing ML techniques and good old statistics to drive revenues and save costs.

Despite working in a big old bank, you will not find us in suits and ties. We work normal hours but strive to produce better than normal results by use of, you know, science. The team is fun with mixed experience. We welcome diversity and look forward to your application.

Your expertise

• you are passionate about your work and care about people
• PhD (ideal) or MSc equivalent in a technical field
• extensive coding experience - history of hands-on development - python (ideal)
• extensive analytics experience - recommendation models, client analytics, statistics, classical ML, and interest in latest AI research
• moderate financial knowledge - experience in a Markets business, for example Equities or Credit trading or distribution
• moderate cloud experience - we are on Azure
• ability to solve the right problems and being able to justify your efforts to stakeholders
• commercial instinct and practical implementation as opposed to ivory tower research
