Job Description
Your role: We're looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Data team. Our teams support the business in broadening data informed decision making and experiences. You'll work with Agile teams in London, Sofia and Bangalore that are not only responsible for the collection, ingestion, utilisation and warehousing of Data across the business, but also the enrichment of our data assets through machine learning and AI. Through our collective ambition, we provide industry leading insights tools, consumer facing AI features and products. We collect, analyse and interpret data to build dynamic and transformative partnerships with our brands. Data products e.g. insights tools, consumer facing AI features and efficiency tooling.
Day to day you will:
- Oversee the software development life cycle, which includes tailoring agile ways of working, developing a culture of continuous delivery, and collaboratively shaping the delivery practises of your teams
- Use Delivery tools such as Jira, Jira Product Discovery, and Miro: to support engineering teams day-to-day, and have a clear view of progress
- Raising and resolving risks, dependencies and issues, and negotiating trade-offs and dependencies with other teams
- Reporting on delivery progress and ensuring timely communications and updates with all stakeholders (familiarity with Scaled Agile frameworks such as SAFe is a plus)
- Coaching and mentoring on Agile practices with more Junior team members
- Be a part of and contribute to the Project and Programme Management (PPM) community within News UK (40+ PPMs)
What we're looking for from you:
- Extensive experience in managing end-to-end delivery of complex projects across multiple Agile teams, with a strong focus on delivering business value and validating benefits with stakeholders.
- Proven track record of using Agile methodologies to build collaborative, cross-functional teams and establish effective delivery practices, including backlog creation and resource management.
- Expertise in tailoring Agile ways of working, fostering a culture of continuous delivery, and implementing lean delivery principles such as value mapping and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in utilising delivery tools such as Jira, Jira Product Discovery, and Miro to monitor progress, manage dependencies, and ensure clear communication with stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including proactive communication, risk resolution, and negotiation of trade-offs to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members on Agile practices, and contributing to a broader Project and Programme Management community.
