- Develop and maintain solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies, including Microsoft OneLake, Fabric, Azure SQL and SQL Server
- Create dimensional data models and assured datasets that support insight and decision-making
- Support data quality, master data management and data cataloguing
- Take technical ownership of solution designs aligned to the Council's target data architecture
- Work in an Agile, DevOps-led environment using Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Mentor and support less experienced engineers
- Engage with stakeholders to propose innovative, value-driven solutions
What we're looking for
- Strong experience in data engineering within cloud-based platforms (Azure preferred)
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end data solutions
- Excellent SQL skills including performance optimisation
- Experience with ETL, data integration and analytics platforms
- Experience with Python, Java or Scala
- Knowledge of DevOps and Agile delivery
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers
Why join Lancashire County Council?
- Work on meaningful, large-scale data platforms supporting public services
- Be part of a forward-thinking digital and data community
- Influence the direction of a modern data architecture
- Strong commitment to learning, development and progression
- Competitive local government benefits, pension and flexible working
