Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Project Responsibilities
• Support the strategic planning and business development of the Trust.
• Lead the design and implementation of new and improved analysis and reporting streams.
• Keep up to date with new developments which affect the system's design and application development appropriate to the Trust, including researching and evaluating new technologies.
• Keep abreast of national and local reporting requirements and ensure necessary changes in reports management fit the needs of the business.
• Have the ability to influence people with different perspectives to get the most out of stakeholder relationships.
• It is expected that the post holder will work through all projects with autonomy and take all necessary decisions to see projects through to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Expected to manage concurrent projects and resources independently and proactively.
Leadership
• Represent Data Engineering at internal and external meetings.
• Provide support to the team and offer support and guidance to all other members of the Information Team.
Testing and Exercise
• To ensure comprehensive test plans are created, maintained and fully auditable, exercising these on implementation and an ad-hoc basis to ensure data provision always meets the specific needs for which it has been designed.
• Have a keen eye for quality assurance and be able to perform rigorous testing on both your own scripts and the scripts of others.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Advanced knowledge in T-SQL and scripting languages
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven track record of working within an Informatics environment
- Experience of programming, configuring, managing and maintaining the operation of complex databases and to develop and manipulate large, complex data sets
- Experience of data interrogation and data linking, able to analyse complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Developed specialist knowledge of data collection and analysis to design and develop reports
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and SQL
- Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office package - particularly Word, Access and Excel
- Risk management and governance
- Experience with Power BI and creating Dashboards
- Working and managing databases

- Knowledge of report automation software
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Python
- Knowledge and understanding of NHS Data Dictionary and Trust clinical systems with the ability in interpreting national guidance
