An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Data Analyst to join sexual health and HIV.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual who is able to efficiently manage their time and workload. They should have excellent communication, IT and analytic skills. Ability to manage their own workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment with many demands on their time is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at Denmark Hill and will also be expected to travel to Beckenham Beacon on a regular basis.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Analyst post will be responsible for delivering and developing the public health data requirement for the Department of Sexual Health & HIV within the EPIC system for Denmark Hill and Beckenham Beacon. These requirements are for submission of mandatory public health surveillance data, in addition NHSE data requirements and data required for the Integrated Sexual Health tariff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be a lead contact in addressing the Trust and departmental operational teams on analytical and reporting requirements and advising on complex analysis requirements and reporting.

To gain a working knowledge of the Department of Sexual Health & HIV and its services, utilising your existent or acquired understanding of operational business to advise on information requirements, statutory and mandatory reporting and new measurements where appropriate.

To take responsibility for the preparation and submission of the various data reports required by the sexual health and HIV departments.

To support discussion with commissioners' regular analysis of GUMCAD, CTAD, HARS and SRHAD data to enable informed commissioning decisions relating to ISHS attendances, activity and STI diagnosis and contraceptive usage trends. To inform the EPIC team to make any necessary changes to IT systems as new information standards are published.

To play a pivotal role, in conjunction with the BIU and senior colleagues, in the development of new ways of presenting and visualising data to increase accessibility and immediacy to clinical and managerial colleagues within the Trust.

Through own knowledge of SQL, to accurately script and report on datasets and support development of analysts' scripting skills.

To manage your own workload of reporting requirements to agreed timetables and plan core tasks with colleagues and, through managing the workloads, ensure delivery of collaborative or work stream related projects.

To share knowledge and develop Business Intelligence Analysts' own knowledge of activity datasets, informatics, SQL scripting and data interrogation.

To provide timely and accurate reporting to enable the Trust's and commissioning performance management framework to be implemented, using central and local data sources as required.

To scrutinise data and proactively report on changes in trends or patterns, particularly focusing on defined key performance indicators.

Person specification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Excellent data presentation skills, written, graphical and verbal
  • Experience working with colleagues in a complex data environment at senior level
  • Skilled in using data query tools, spreadsheets and databases
  • Substantial knowledge gained through analytical experience in Information Management within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the NHS data model including the Inpatient, Outpatient and RTT/PTL models
