About the role

We have a great opportunity for a Senior Credit Underwriter Undertake manual credit worthiness assessments for FGH customers in line with regulatory standards and with consideration of the impact on both the customer and the business.

This is a hybrid role - working at least 2 days in the office with the remainder from home.

Role Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new business applications and credit limit increase requests, delivering timely decisions within SLA and in accordance with Credit Policy.
  • Review historic credit decisions based on irresponsible lending complaints from customers and provide summaries and recommendations to the complaints team.
  • Clearly articulate and/or document the rationale for all decisions made.
  • Provide coaching and support for Credit Underwriters.
  • Suggest improvements to underwriting processes and procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the regulated complaints and wider FS team
  • Deputise for the Credit Underwriting Manager.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements and undertake all tasks in line with FCA and ICO requirements and all relevant codes of conduct.
  • Be committed to the good treatment of customers at all times.

  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by acts and omissions at work.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable UK and local regulations, Company Policies and FCA Conduct Rules

About you

  • 3+ years' experience underwriting consumer credit
  • Good knowledge of the consumer credit industry and customer life cycle.
  • Awareness of applicable consumer credit regulation.
  • Good understanding of Credit Reference Agency data and its application.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines with high levels of accuracy
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide effective coaching for credit underwriters.
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Able to commute to Bradford city centre 2 days per week (across Tue, Wed & Thu)
  • May be required to work out of hours on occasion
  • Ability to derive and communicate insight from data/Management Information.
  • Coaching and training experience
