Senior Credit Controller

We are seeking a Senior Credit Controller to join our central team. Your would be responsible for day-to-day debt collection activities while also coordinating team workflow and supporting performance management. The role is primarily operational (approximately 80% hands-on credit control work) with a smaller element of leadership and reporting responsibilities (approximately 20%). The role ensures timely collection of insurance and client debts and supports consistent credit control processes across all veterinary surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate workload and priorities across the credit control team
• Monitor aged debt reports and highlight risks or trends
• Act as escalation point for complex or disputed claims
• Provide support and guidance to Credit Controllers
• Produce regular reporting for the finance team (aged debt, insurance debt, debtor days)
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce debtor days

KPI's responsible for:
• Overall debtor days maintained within agreed group target
• Percentage of insurance claims chased within agreed timescales
• Reduction in claims aged over 30 and 60 days
• Accuracy of BACS allocation and minimal unapplied cash balances
• Value of debts escalated to external collection agency within policy timeframe

Who are we looking for:

You should be confident with data and KPIs, efficient with Excel, able to spot trends and take action, not just report. Strong communication is key, ability to escalations and work with internal and external stakeholders.

Overall, someone who is organised, commercially aware, and naturally steps into a leadership role, driving improvements rather than just maintaining processes.

Job Specifics:

Hours 40hrs/week

Rota Monday - Friday
Hybrid work - With travel required to Ellesmere Port Hospital

Salary-Up to £31,250

Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks including bank holidays
