Job Title: Senior Courier

Location:DHL Express (UK) Ltd, Unit 2, Chariot Drive, Edinburgh Interchange, Newbridge, Edinburgh, EH28 8PA

Shift Pattern:Monday - Friday, varied start time between 7am - 9am, 10-hour days with a 1-hour break.

Role Purpose:As a Senior Courier, you will lead and manage a team of couriers to ensure the efficient delivery and collection of shipments. You will conduct performance dialogues, annual appraisals, and regular one-to-one meetings with your team. Additionally, you will cover courier routes during planned or unplanned absences and may also cover for Operations Managers when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of couriers to meet delivery and collection targets.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage underperformance through coaching.
  • Cover courier routes and adapt to new routes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and road transport regulations.
  • Represent DHL professionally to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the team to perform their duties efficiently.
  • Arrange cover for holidays, sickness, and other absences.
  • Conduct daily briefs, performance dialogues, and debriefs with team members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures.

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible working approach with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Good team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in a courier role (preferred).
  • Supervisory/management experience (preferred).
  • Full UK driving license (C1, 7.5-ton license preferred).
