This is an exciting opportunity to join the Costing and Productivity team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Are you passionate about using data to improve healthcare? We're looking for a Senior Costing & Data Analyst to help us maintain and develop our costing models while driving productivity improvements across the Trust. If you have exposure to costing and a keen interest in helping make operations more efficient, this could be the perfect role for you.
In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and updating costing models, ensuring they're accurate and up to date for mandatory returns, service line reporting, and key decision-making. You'll collaborate with clinical divisions and corporate directorates, providing them with valuable insights while also supporting the development of productivity models that help improve efficiency across the Trust.
What do you need? We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in data analysis and exposure to costing, but most importantly, we need someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys working with complex datasets, and is keen to make a difference by improving productivity. You'll work closely with different teams and will need to communicate findings clearly to help drive better decision-making.

Main duties of the job
- To provide an efficient, high-quality, and comprehensive patient-level costing and productivity service within the Trust, offering timely appropriate information, advice, and recommendations on total absorption costing methodology to clinical divisions and corporate directorates.
- To maintain and update a complex costing database to support the preparation of mandatory costing returns, including national cost collection (NCC), in-year quarterly service line reporting (SLR), and decision-making reports and analysis.
- To provide technical knowledge, support and lead on the activity and income data delivery within the costing model and productivity, working closely with the Head of PLICS & Productivity, Senior Costing Analyst, Business Intelligence team and financial management and Income team.
- To support and incorporate all developments with approved costing guidance and the national and system-level tariff payments system into the trust's costing and productivity model.
- To undertake periodic benchmarking reviews with local, peer and national averages.
- To prepare benchmarking reports in liaison with other trusts and communicate the findings to line management and key stakeholders at the directorate, divisional and trust levels.

Person specification
Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- CCAB qualified (or equivalent)
- Educated to degree level
- Or Educated to Master's Degree level or equivalent experience in data analysis
Values and Behaviours
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive IT skills, including computerised financial accounting and costing software
- Good knowledge of database systems with the ability to expertly handle highly complex data from multiple sources
- Able to plan and prioritise work for self and others
- Able to work under pressure and meet objectives while handling conflicting demands and challenging deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Developing dashboards using Power BI or QlikSense
- Experience of maintaining and updating Tabular models (SSAS)
- Knowledge of NHS data including its structure, definitions and relationship to clinical activity recording
Experience
Essential criteria
- Worked within the NHS or similar organisation.
- Knowledge of NHS finance with a focus on NHS Costing Standards.
- Experience in undertaking complex analysis
- Experience with computerised systems and software, including spreadsheets, databases, word processors and email
- Project management and review
- Experience of working to tight deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Provision of costing support to the development of business cases
