Newport City Council are seeking an experienced and proactive individual to lead the Gwent Coroner's Officer team. The Senior Coroner's Officer is a new post and an exciting opportunity to join our busy service in its new premises at Langstone Business Village. The successful candidate will oversee the efficient operation of the Coroner's Court and premises, ensuring a key frontline service is delivered on behalf of the Senior Coroner for Gwent.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to support and develop a team of coroner's officers employed by the local authority and Gwent Police. You will have proven investigative experience and the ability to process and distil information and evidence. You will have a positive outlook and high levels of emotional resilience to deal with service challenges. You will work with a wide variety of people and organisations whilst also representing the Coroner and Coroner Service Manager at various forums. It is essential you have the ability to build and develop relationships based on trust and respect.

It would be desirable to have experience in a similar role, preferably within a Coroner's Office, or an understanding of coronial law and the legal framework and procedures related to death investigations.
