Location: Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Berkshire
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting To: Managing Director
Role Overview
The Senior Contracts Manager will take full operational responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple construction projects, overseeing site teams, programmes, quality, health & safety and client relationships. The role will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard, acting as the link between senior management and site-based teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Operations
- Oversee multiple live projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover
- Manage site managers, project managers and subcontractors across projects
- Ensure programmes are achieved and resources are effectively planned
- Drive high standards of workmanship, quality control and site presentation
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Take overall responsibility for health & safety performance across sites
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, CDM regulations and site standards
- Carry out site audits, inspections and toolbox talks
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as key point of contact for clients, consultants and design teams
- Chair progress meetings and provide regular project updates
- Resolve site issues quickly to maintain strong client relationships
Cost & Programme Control (Delivery Focused)
- Work closely with commercial team to monitor project budgets and variations
- Manage subcontractor performance and productivity
- Identify risks to programme or delivery and implement corrective action
Pre-Construction & Planning Support
- Contribute to buildability reviews, programmes and method statements
- Support tender handover and mobilisation of new projects
- Assist with procurement planning alongside commercial and site teams
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor and develop site management teams
- Promote a positive site culture focused on safety, quality and delivery
- Drive consistent standards across all projects
Experience & Qualifications
- Strong background as a Contracts Manager, Project Manager or Senior Site Manager within construction
- Proven experience delivering multiple projects concurrently
- Experience working for a main contractor or residential/commercial contractor
- Excellent knowledge of construction processes, sequencing and site operations
- Strong health & safety awareness and leadership
- Trade background or construction-related qualification preferred
