Nash Maritime (part of the APEM Group) are looking for a Senior Maritime Consultant to join their growing team!

As Senior Maritime Consultant, you will apply your technical knowledge to analyse potential impacts to shipping and navigation from proposed operations/developments. You will deliver assessments of navigational risk, as well as authoring report chapters. You will prepare and contribute to client liaison and stakeholder engagement meetings, interfacing with decision-makers to determine potential impacts and mitigation solutions. You will have responsibility for managing projects you're involved in, including escalating risks where appropriate and as part of the wider team, you will also contribute to business development activities, including supporting with tender submissions.

The role will initially be shaped around the areas in which you have most experience and skills, with support and training provided to gradually build out to develop your expertise across our services and sectors. As a Senior Consultant, you will be working on tasks independently, as well as collaborating with other team members, and the wider Group. Acting as a mentor for junior members of staff, you will also gain insight into management responsibilities.

You will have:

• At least 5 years' professional experience in a maritime consultancy, regulatory or port environment
• A relevant university degree (e.g. science, engineering, geography or risk/mathematics)
• Maritime domain background (e.g. mariner, harbour master, VTS)
• Self-motivation, passion and appetite for a challenge
• Excellent computer literacy and competency with MS office suite - particularly MS Word and Excel
• Excellent report writing, English language and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently with initiative and as part of a team and with clients and stakeholders
• Detailed knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code
• Experience of drafting, reviewing and operating port / harbour Safety Management Systems
• Experience of co-ordinating or undertaking marine technical reports and navigation risk assessments
