The Opportunity
The Senior Construction Logistics Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Logistics, plays a critical role in overseeing the on-site logistics processes for the storage and movement of materials. This includes managing the delivery of services through a 3PL partner to ensure materials are delivered where and when they are needed. The Senior Manager is accountable for prioritising cross-project logistics demand, handling disruptions, and addressing escalations related to construction logistics performance. They will also manage stakeholder expectations across various functions, including Operations Logistics.
In this leadership position, the Senior Construction Logistics Manager will guide and develop the Construction Logistics team, taking direct line management responsibility for a team that is currently being designed.

What you will be doing
You will lead teams in maintaining accurate Construction Logistics reporting, ensuring logistics meet performance standards and KPIs. Accountable for implementing logistics and project control techniques, you'll drive improvements to logistics systems within your scope. You will assess and represent changes in Programme budgets, analyse project trends to identify risks and opportunities, and champion governance and logistics standards. Additionally, you'll ensure all project documents, including sensitive nuclear information, are properly protected in accordance with EDF policies. Additional roles and responsibilities include:
- Drive an outcome-focused Construction Logistics framework, highlighting risks and interdependencies while aligning strategic and delivery-level reporting.
- Facilitate comprehensive review and challenge of project-level reporting, ensuring timely and accurate information on risks and interfaces, supporting decision-making at all levels.
- Lead the development and delivery of strategies while managing interdependencies to ensure prioritisation and timely decision-making.
- Champion best practices and continuous improvement across Construction Logistics by capturing and sharing operational insights and lessons learned.
- Review and validate information to provide clear visibility to key stakeholders, from local teams to senior executives.
- Analyse data to identify risks and make evidence-based decisions, using a systematic approach to drive Logistics strategy, especially under pressure.
- Deliver clear, concise insights to executives, using commercial and technical data to influence decisions and ensure effective Logistics management.
- Foster collaboration across departments to achieve successful outcomes aligned with HPC project values: Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, and Clarity.
- Apply project controls principles, leading cross-functional teams to drive effective, outcome-based sessions.
- Oversee schedule and cost updates due to forecasting changes, working with teams to understand risk impacts and mitigation strategies.
- Lead, coach, and support the Construction Logistics team, ensuring the use of standardised processes and high-quality delivery.
Who you are
With strong leadership and a deep understanding of Logistics management, you navigate complex contract types like NEC and FIDIC. You apply risk analysis techniques with excellent analytical and numerical skills, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Your ability to build relationships, communicate effectively at all levels, and provide actionable reports supports strategic decision-making. You understand how changes impact project delivery and use critical thinking to manage those effects. With expertise in estimating, scheduling, change management, and risk management, you drive successful project outcomes. Additional requirements for this role include:
- Extensive expertise in construction and logistics operations, offering valuable insights into operational needs.
- Proven experience in logistics planning and operations, particularly within major capital projects in construction or related industries.
- Skilled in delivering precise project insights to drive evidence-based decisions, leveraging commercial and technical data to influence outcomes and manage construction logistics effectively.
- Strong understanding of how decisions and changes impact project risk profiles and logistics delivery.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear and concise communicator, adept at simplifying complex issues for both technical and non-technical senior audiences.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Collaborative approach to working across teams and organisational boundaries to achieve shared goals.
You should hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, ideally with logistics-specific qualifications. Senior-level expertise in leading logistics teams within complex, regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, aerospace, or large infrastructure) is essential, along with experience in integration management and stakeholder engagement. A health and safety qualification is required. Proficiency in logistics frameworks, technology solutions, and major project delivery, coupled with proven leadership and team empowerment skills, is vital.
