General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV's. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

In this role of Senior Component Engineer you will:

  • Provide expert advice on component selection to engineering development teams and sub-contractors
  • Lead and govern the Obsolescence process, monitoring and managing issues in our products
  • Manage the New Parts Introduction process, validating selected components and suggesting alternatives
  • Oversee Counterfeit management, REACH, RoHS, LTB (last time buy), and PCN (product change notice) processes
  • Contribute to product lifecycle management from design stage through to maturity
  • Offer guidance on component selection in relation to counterfeit prevention, obsolescence management, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Significant experience in electronics engineering and the electronics component market
  • Knowledge of RoHS/REACH/Conflict Materials and their impact on part selection is desirable
  • Experience in counterfeit and obsolescence processes
  • Degree in electronics-related subject preferred, but relevant professional experience is essential
  • Experience in avionics, aerospace or naval systems industry is desirable

Additional Information

This role has a starting salary of between £45,600 and £57,000 plus our flexible benefits package.

We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office - typically a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
