DESCRIPTION
This position will advise the business and senior leadership on pan-European strategic matters, and lead the team on competition and related regulatory matters in the UK, and help shape the company's long-term strategy on highly relevant and novel issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive litigation and regulatory competition matters focusing on the UK, including integrated partnership with the UK Legal, Public Policy, and Communications teams.
- Advise the business and legal colleagues on competition-related matters across Amazon businesses.
- Help shape the company's long-term strategy on high impact and often novel issues.
- Think Big and look around corners to spot issues and identify developments of relevance for the Amazon business.
- Partner with our public policy team and engage with regulators and policy makers on a broad range of issues.
- Contribute as a member of the EU Competition team to develop mechanisms for training, compliance, and cross-functional coordination.
The role is based in London and will report to the Director and Associate General Counsel EU Competition. Some travel will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Fully qualified lawyer with outstanding academic and legal qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in UK and EU competition law
- Experience in independently managing competition related regulatory and litigation matters, with deep demonstrated experience in the UK.
- Experience independently managing a large number and variety of mission-critical projects and meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense
- Some experience within the CMA a plus.
- Experience and/or aptitude in cutting edge technology areas (cloud services, AI) a plus
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
- A team player and consensus builder with great people skills and a good sense of humor who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization
