The Opportunity
As the Senior Commissioning Manager within Commissioning Delivery, you will play a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Head of Commissioning Delivery. You'll lead and direct all activities across the full life cycle of the assigned commissioning work streams, ensuring smooth and successful execution. Your leadership will be key to driving the delivery of complex commissioning projects.
In this role, you'll empower and support the Commissioning Delivery organisation by providing the necessary expertise, arrangements, and resources to enable safe and efficient testing at the HPC site. While maintaining nuclear safety and regulatory compliance as your top priorities, you'll also focus on ensuring that effective programme delivery remains a central objective. Your guidance will be crucial in balancing safety with efficiency, enabling the team to achieve key project milestones.

What you will be doing
As Senior Commissioning Manager, you will ensure that all deliverables supporting HPC commissioning are delivered on time and meet the project's requirements. You'll lead and support your team and contract partners while overseeing contractual reviews and acceptance activities. With delegated authority, you'll make key decisions, instruct contractors, resolve queries, and address non-conformances, all while assessing the impact of any changes. Additional responsibilities include:
- Implement and execute strategies to conduct HPC commissioning safely and effectively, drawing on best practices from France, China, and other international sources.
- Ensure all end-to-end processes and procedures are in place and mature enough to support seamless system handovers and the start of commissioning.
- Establish and maintain the Commissioning Management System, which includes company procedures, guidance, and work instructions for effective commissioning.
- Deliver cutting-edge Information Management systems, including a custom mobile platform to oversee approximately 500,000 site tests.
- Work closely with the Head of Commissioning Delivery and other Senior Commissioning Managers to align programme objectives with project goals, ensuring nuclear safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor the Delivery discipline, fostering a culture of nuclear safety and operational excellence.
- Support the NNB Genco leadership team in achieving all work programmes, including forward resource planning and providing comprehensive short-, medium-, and long-term resource management plans.
- Ensure operational experience (OPEX) is well recorded, shared, and implemented across the project.
Who you are
To be suitable for this role, you'll bring a strong technical engineering or nuclear safety background, with proven site-based experience in a senior leadership role. Your expertise includes a deep understanding of UK licensing and statutory processes, along with the responsibilities of a licensee and the principles of an Intelligent Customer organisation. With hands-on commissioning experience, you are well-versed in the end-to-end commissioning process. Additionally, you possess solid knowledge of project configuration management and open points management, ensuring seamless project execution and regulatory compliance.
Additional requirements for this role include:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist, or holds equivalent professional standing.
- Proven experience leading teams in a programme-driven project environment.
- Strong track record of safely delivering projects in a commercial setting while balancing practical programme execution.
- Commercially aware, with a keen understanding of the impact of change on project outcomes.
- Exceptional presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills to drive engagement and decision-making.
- Excellent communicator and organiser, skilled in building relationships and maintaining effective professional networks.
