Senior Commissioning Engineer (Pre Tender/Planning)

About The Role

We are looking to strengthen our tendering team with a senior commissioning engineer based at Derby with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the commissioning manager and your role will cover the creation of tender stage commissioning proposals and programs for waste and water treatment projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

Communicating effectively with a team of multi disciplined engineers both face to face and remotely, providing technical support, specialist advise and viable option evaluations.

Able to work alone under own initiative with limited supervision.

Fully understanding clients requirements from project documents and outline scope information.

Contribute ideas and experience to the wider team in formulating and evaluating specific solutions and the overall proposal.

Ensure any special commissioning features are identified and included.

Identify and highlight commissioning risks and suggest mitigations, including but not limited to temporary plant requirements and potential for outside normal of hours working patterns

Devise commissioning methods that minimise reliance on temporary plant and work arounds but where unavoidable ensure sufficient allowance is included for these items within any submission.

Identify and list interfaces with other third party equipment.

Develop a commissioning plan that ensures as far as pratically possible that clients operational equipment and plant performance as a whole will be unaffected by the proposed works.

Create a list of unavoidable operationally intrusive works that will need specific methodology before execution.

Develop a written commissioning strategy statement using the standard proforma.

Review and assist in the development of a project program that includes sufficient time for all stages of commissioning.

Estimate from experience the resources required and potential duration for the stages of commissioning (dry/wet/process) for all of the assetts/elements within the proposal.

Review and endorse project program in terms of sequence of work and duration, specifically identifying any unusual work patterns that may be necessary (7 day attendance, 24 hour manning, nigh time shut downs, etc).

About You

Essential

Full driving license

Minimum 15 years of relevant commissioning experience in the water and waste water industry.

Formal EICA or Process qualification in a relevant subject.

Previous experience of working within Severn Trent region.

Familiar with WIMES and Severn Trent specifications and standards.

Able write clear and concise technical descriptions and methodology.

Ability to articulate complex engineering solutions to a critical audience.

Confident in the use of everyday software packages to record/visualise/present/share information (Typically; Microsoft Excel, visio, powerpoint,)

Familiarity with BIM360 Glue and Projectwise would be an advantage but training can be provided if necessary
