The CWA (Civil Works Alliance) is looking for a Senior Commercial Manager to join and support the delivery of Sizewell C-a landmark 3.2-gigawatt power station that will provide reliable, low-carbon electricity for six million homes and play a vital role in the UK's energy future. This is a significant opportunity to influence the commercial and financial success of one of the most important infrastructure projects of our generation.
As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing a major section of the project, from the initial Target Outturn Cost setting through to final accounting and commercial closeout. You will be a senior member of the commercial team, drawing on your expertise to ensure the project's success and to mentor the next generation of commercial professionals.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial management of a major section of the Sizewell C project, ensuring financial and contractual objectives are met
- Uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and sustainability across all activities
- Guide and develop a commercial team, providing mentorship and supporting the career development of junior staff
- Oversee procurement, supply chain management, and risk mitigation to maximise project efficiency and value
- Prepare and manage Target Outturn Costs, monthly performance reports, and earned value data
- Represent the CWA's financial and contractual interests in stakeholder meetings, ensuring alignment with project goals
- Ensure compliance with all processes, procedures, and governance regimes
- Provide commercial input to value engineering reviews and alternative construction methods
- Support dispute resolution, contract change management, and application of relevant legislation
- Champion diversity, collaboration, and innovation within your team and across the alliance
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
- Chartered Member or Fellow of RICS, ICES, or CIOB
- Demonstrable experience in commercial management within major infrastructure projects
- Proven leadership skills, with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams
- Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and the ability to see the bigger picture
- Commitment to collaboration, respect, and positive challenge within a diverse team
