The University Hospital of North Midlands, Mid Cheshire and East Cheshire NHS Trusts are working collaboratively to form a Pathology network in line with a NHSI directive.
Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
- 1st or 2nd Class Hons Science Degree
- Completed a formal 'Grade A'/STP post graduate training programme OR to have undertaken alternative training and supervised in-service experience assessed to be to an equivalent level.
- MSc in relevant discipline
- HCPC Registration as a Clinical Scientist
Desirable criteria
- FRCPath Part 1 (or equivalent)
- PhD in a relevant subject
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Clinical Biochemistry
- Experience of Clinical Audit, quality improvement and service development projects
- Ability to prepare and present highly complex scientific and clinical information at local, national and international meetings to large audiences
Desirable criteria
- Experience of reviewing external quality assurance reports and acting on the results
- Experience of working independently on a duty biochemist rota
- Experience of analysis and interpretation of specialist biochemistry e.g. Mass Spectrometer, protein electrophoresis traces, molecular genetics techniques
