The University Hospital of North Midlands, Mid Cheshire and East Cheshire NHS Trusts are working collaboratively to form a Pathology network in line with a NHSI directive.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria

• 1st or 2nd Class Hons Science Degree
• Completed a formal 'Grade A'/STP post graduate training programme OR to have undertaken alternative training and supervised in-service experience assessed to be to an equivalent level.
• MSc in relevant discipline
• HCPC Registration as a Clinical Scientist

Desirable criteria

• FRCPath Part 1 (or equivalent)
• PhD in a relevant subject

Experience

Essential criteria

• Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Clinical Biochemistry
• Experience of Clinical Audit, quality improvement and service development projects
• Ability to prepare and present highly complex scientific and clinical information at local, national and international meetings to large audiences

Desirable criteria

• Experience of reviewing external quality assurance reports and acting on the results
• Experience of working independently on a duty biochemist rota
• Experience of analysis and interpretation of specialist biochemistry e.g. Mass Spectrometer, protein electrophoresis traces, molecular genetics techniques
