Job overview

The Croydon Locality Team (CMHT) is a generic team integrated with Croydon Social Care. We are looking for one Band 7 Senior Clinical Practitioner to join the South. The Senior Clinical Practitioner ( RMN, Social worker/AMHP/ OT) will join a thriving team of supportive, committed and skilled practitioners from a diverse professional background who are dedicated to changing the future outcomes for adults who present to secondary mental health services. They will work in partnership with the Team Manager, Consultant and Psychology staff to lead, develop and support the new teams.

Main duties of the job

Croydon is currently undergoing service transformation within its community mental health services. The transformation is about enhancing the quality of our service delivery, improving the experiences of those using our services, maintaining staff morale and to ensure services are meeting the NHS Long Term Plan. It is an exciting time to be part of this transformation in Croydon and you will be directly involved in improving ways of working with investment in resources to enhance services. The new teams will no longer be based on diagnosis and will work with all individuals from a particular locality who have mental health needs that require support from secondary care. The locality Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) will be a generic team integrated with Croydon Social Care. We are looking for a Band 7 Senior Clinical Practitioners to join the south locality team. Person specification

Qualifications and experience

Essential criteria

  • Relevant professional qualification- Mental Health Nursing, Social worker, Occupational Therapist with affiliated professional registration NMC, HCPC
  • Additional qualification /diploma - in related field e.g. Mental Health, leadership, coaching, mentorship, family work, Mentorship qualification (A)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development e.g. relevant training

Desirable criteria

  • Qualification in relevant psycho-social intervention
  • Dual Diagnosis
  • Leadership

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of CPA, Community Care Act, Carers Act, Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation as application to practice
  • Knowledge of race and gender issues as they pertain to people with serious mental health problems
  • Excellent knowledge & experience of assessment and risk assessment toolsExcellent knowledge & experience of assessment and risk assessment tools

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria

  • Ability to analyse complex issues/problems, provide guidance and make decisions
  • Skills in mental health and risk assessments
  • Skills in crisis management Effectively manage a clinical caseload, complete outcomes measures routinely, update clinical records in line with team, service and Trust requirements
  • Ability to provide care that is sensitive to the needs of minority groups

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of Clinical Governance and Evidence Based Practice
  • Experience of Change management
  • Experience of carrying out CBT
