Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. To partake in clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken in the clinical specialty
2. Leadership, management and directorate/service support roles
3. To line manage and support more junior pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians in pharmacy
4. To take full part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holiday duties

Person specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

• B.Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or MPharm
• GPhC registered
• Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or other appropriate post graduate qualification
• Demonstrates continued professional development
• Independent Prescribing Qualification, or willing to complete with 12 months

Desirable criteria

• Related post-graduate qualification
• Training in or experience of prescribing in anticoagulation use and dosing

Experience

Essential criteria

• Wide previous experience (post registration) in hospital pharmacy
• Broad knowledge base of clinical areas.
• Experience of day to day supervision and assisting in training of pre-registration pharmacists and/or technicians.
• Understanding of issues affecting the NHS

Desirable criteria

• Evidence of project work completed
• Experience of working within stroke or anticoagulation specialities.
• Experience of working in outpatient clinic
• Experience in undertaking, and reporting/presenting audit / research work at local (Trust) level.
• Experience working with patients with speech and swallowing difficulties

Communication and RFelationship Skills

Essential criteria

• Good interpersonal, negotiating and presentation skills, both written and verbal skills.
• Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
• Good communication skills with multidisciplinary team members and own profession.

• Critical evaluation of literature and literature searching skills for analysing, interpreting medicines information, production issues, drug therapy decisions and patient information.
• Able to assess and minimise the risk in medication process.
• Able to analyse patient specific data to advise on therapy management.

• Experience of analysing expenditure.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
