Job overview

This is a permanent 1x WTE Band 8a position to join the paediatric team in the role of a senior TYA haematology/oncology pharmacist with a specific interest in ambulatory care.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and talented individual to join our clinical pharmacy team in a senior role, serving paediatric and adolescent patients with a specific focus on cancer.

The focus of the post is to support the work of the lead pharmacist and senior clinical pharmacist and at times act as a direct deputy in their absence. The post holder will look after patients within the specialties of haematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant as well as general paediatrics, with services also focussed on the needs of the adolescent and young adult population.

The post-holder will assist in the development and approval of guidelines, development and training of junior pharmacists and lead on service development and service improvement projects.

The post-holder will work closely within the multi-disciplinary team through all elements of clinical care, in the provision of education and training, and in ensuring and assuring clinical governance standards around medicines use for the Paediatrics Division. In doing this, you will develop your own expertise, and that of junior pharmacy colleagues and undergraduates as well as medical students and junior medical staff, whilst working with senior clinicians and nursing staff to ensure high quality medicines management.

Main duties of the job

This role supports the lead pharmacist in the provision of high-quality patient care through delivery of specialised pharmaceutical care to paediatric and adolescent patients with cancer, including haematology, CAR-T and bone marrow transplant.

To be considered, you should have a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills) and a broad base of clinical experience, including specialist oncology/haematology experience. An independent prescribing qualification is highly desirable but not essential.

Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills are essential.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Completion of a Master's degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
• Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence, as demonstrated within a practice portfolio Applicants undertaking the JPB Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice will be expected to have completed at least two FS2 modules
