Role Summary

To provide a high-quality specialist clinical pharmacy service to inpatients and outpatients in a designated clinical area.

To be responsible for a specialist clinical area on a day to day basis and deputise and support the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for the directorate in their absence.

To assist in the delivery of training and the development of members of the pharmacy clinical team, undergraduate pharmacy students, Foundation Year Pharmacists and members of the wider MDT.

Are you a Band 6 pharmacist ready to become a Band 7 Pharmacist? Are you a Band 6 pharmacist ready to make the next step in your career but don't quite meet the job description? This role is a progression Band 6 to 7 position for those people thinking of taking the next step in their career by developing themselves in a specialist area whilst consolidating their practice in core rotational areas.

We are looking for an experienced pharmacist who is thinking of taking the next step in their career by developing themselves in a specialist area whilst consolidating their practice in core rotational areas. Ideally you will have completed, or be on your way towards finishing your clinical diploma and have experience in a hospital pharmacy setting. Aspirations to develop as an independent prescriber and to gain experience across a variety of specialist clinical areas will also be required.

The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital offers specialist rotations including Intensive Care, Respiratory & Cystic Fibrosis, Cardiology, Specialist Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Renal, Acute Stroke, Paediatrics & Neonates, Acute Medicine. The lead pharmacist for each of these areas will support you during the rotation and there will be opportunities to be involved in quality improvement and teaching as well as additional opportunities for mentoring and personal development within our expanding team.

Candidates are required to have a strong team approach, good communication skills and show initiative whilst being a reliable and enthusiastic pharmacist.

The post-holder will participate in on-call, weekend, late duty and bank holiday rosters. Please note that in order to deliver a high standard of care to patients the Pharmacy service operates 7 days a week and staff are therefore required to work some weekends as part of their contracted hours

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Requirement to participate in 7 day working to include late duties, bank holidays and weekend working.
