Overview

Waters is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding Clinical Systems team.

This position represents a key role within the Clinical Systems team and will focus on the mechanical design of exciting new automated Sample Preparation products as well as current on-market products.

The team develops Waters Clinical and IVD Systems. Our mission is to deliver customer benefit in the clinical market segment through the evaluation, development, and deployment of innovative clinical system capabilities.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be supporting the Mechanical Engineering Department, working within and across teams, to innovate new ideas and technologies, create prototypes, drive project work, generate required deliverables and help deliver road-map goals.

The role will be working within a highly entrepreneurial, team environment where multi-tasking and flexible thinking will be critical. This is a great opportunity for you to join a small but dynamic team to creating the next generation of automated clinical scientific products.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • To provide technical design support to other members of the department as well as other functions within Waters.
  • To interpret the requirements of the development specification to the highest standard and to produce all relevant engineering information to complete a quality product to specification, cost and on time.
  • To liaise with suppliers to improve and/or gain knowledge of manufacturing techniques & cost-effective manufacture.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical Mechanical Engineering issues associated to Clinical Systems Development.
  • To comply with all company policies and procedures and ensure work meets our quality standards.
  • Network with External stakeholders and collaborators, developing innovative designs and technical solutions.
  • To collaborate effectively within a team environment that may span multiple geographical regions and time zones.
  • Develop and source appropriate materials and technologies for medical device design and construction.

Qualifications

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Mechanical design/engineering experience within the automation industry.
  • Good working knowledge of medical device materials and processes
  • Proven effective engineering experience of precision electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • In-depth understanding and application of skills required to design Automated Sample Preparation products would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work using initiative & innovation in a design for manufacture and cost environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to support and interact with key stakeholders.
  • Good technical, analysis and decision-making skills.
  • Able to interact and contribute to a team environment.
  • Experience of working within a recognised quality system.
  • SolidWorks experience.
  • Experience of collaborating directly with sub-contractors involving quotations & cost engineering.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electro/Mechanical Engineering
