Job summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a lively, supportive, innovative department, with excellent training and opportunities to explore your interests? UCLH is looking to recruit two Clinical Fellows in General Paediatrics (registrar/ST3+ equivalent) to commence as soon as possible for 12 months in the first instance . Of the two roles, one requires participation in the on-call rota, whereas the other has no on-call requirement. (details are in the job description). You will have allocated time within the post to develop a dedicated interest of your choice (clinical speciality, QI and service development, Leadership and Management, or Research

Leadership Coaching will also be provided as part of the post.

These posts provides a unique opportunity to lead on a divisional priority based on their personal interest. The post holders can expect to receive mentoring from a senior leader (Clinical), coaching opportunities,attendance at strategic meetings such as CYP Leadership meeting, CYP Steering Board, Senior Directors meeting and mentorship from the divisional manager.

About us

You will be joining a friendly team to provide an excellent and comprehensive Paediatric and Adolescent Service within UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is equivalent to other general paediatric registrars providing daytime continuity, general paediatric/rapid referral clinics and/or specialty clinics. There are opportunities to develop skills and gain experience in all areas listed above, in addition to other services such as emergency medicine. The division actively participates in clinical research and quality improvement. A weekly attending system for General Paediatrics is in operation and all junior doctors are closely supervised and supported.

We are passionate about providing excellent clinical care alongside the best training opportunities. You would join a highly motivated team at the cutting edge of both service development and academic research. The department has received excellent feedback for the many training opportunities offered both in clinical and non-clinical areas including education, leadership, and management skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GMC full registration
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • APLS or equivalent
  • Evidence of commitment to paediatrics as a career

Desirable

  • Medical education qualification
  • Undertaking/interest in undertaking a Spin in subspeciality/demonstrable interest in named special interest

Experience

Essential

  • Middle grade experience in General Paediatrics
  • Broad experience at SHO level in paediatric in a range of specialities both inpatient and outpatient
  • Experience of acute paediatric and ED

Desirable

  • Experience and commitment in education and training.
  • Evidence of training in teaching and education.
  • Experience in area of interest
  • Safeguarding experience
