Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Main role and responsibilities will be

• Ward rounds and ward duties
• Acute urological clinics,
• Flexi cystoscopy clinics
• Prostate biopsy clinics
• Core Urological Surgery
• Urological on-call at middle grade

Person specification

Qualifications/Registration

Essential criteria

• Full GMC Registration
• MRCS or equivalent

Desirable criteria

• Evidence of excellence in training (e.g. medical school projects & prizes, post-graduate qualifications)

Training and Experience

Essential criteria

• Core trainee experience or equivalent in General Surgery
• Previous experience in Urological surgery
• Understanding of NHS, clinical governance & resource constraints

Desirable criteria

• Experience in a modern Urology unit

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential criteria

• Professional attitude towards work, reliability, good record of attendance and tidy personal appearance
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of Kings Values
• Commitment to uphold Kings Values

Skills and knowledge

Essential criteria

• Understanding of the principles of medical audit
• The ability to produce legible notes
• The ability to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions and exert clear logical thinking showing an analytical/ scientific approach
• Clear understanding of clinical risk management
• The ability to communicate with clarity and intelligibility in written and spoken English

Desirable criteria

• Previous involvement in research project(s)
