Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCPCH (Part 1& 2) or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • APLS, NLS, MRCPH

Eligibility

Essential criteria

  • Full registration with the GMC (GMC Licence to Practise is mandatory before employment commences)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment and 3 years paediatric experience including neonatal experience, in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
  • Good acute clinical care in Paediatrics

Teaching

Essential criteria

  • Interest and experience in medical student and junior doctor teaching where required in the job.
  • Good teaching and training

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of Publications and Presentations

Clinical Skills

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences, and 3 years paediatric experience including neonatal experience, in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice.
  • Acute care safe: up-to-date BLS and NLS. Out of hours experience relevant to the job.
  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: Up to date knowledge of paediatrics and evidence of an understanding of its application
  • Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
  • Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required for the job.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job.

Desirable criteria

  • Basic knowledge of the Paediatric system and quality indicators within the NHS
  • Safeguarding training
  • Provider in APLS and NLS
