THE ROLE

The successful candidate will be assigned an educational supervisor and will receive training in Neurology and its allied subspecialties.They will receive full exposure to both elective and non-elective neurology.

The appointee is expected to provide ward level care for neurology and/or stroke patients as part of a dynamic multi-professional neurosciences team. The workload will include patient admissions, ward rounds and care of emergencies supported by the other registrars, in addition to participating in discharge planning. There is also the opportunity to assist in several outpatient clinics per week, seeing new patients under consultant supervision.

The appointee will be expected to undertake audit and quality improvement projects, as well as to attend clinical governance meetings, mortality and morbidity meetings, regional and national educational meetings. Research activity is encouraged.

1.2 Royal Free Hospital

The neurology ward is located on ward 6 South on the 6th floor of the Royal Free Hospital. There are a total of 10 Neurology inpatient beds catering for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions although outliers are common. We also manage patients on the day ward, the planned investigation and treatment unity (PITU) on the 2nd floor of the Royal Free Hospital

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • GMC registration
  • MRCP part 2 written and/or MSc in Neurology and/or previous experience in in Neurology (at least 1 year)

  • 18 months general professional training experience at SHO level in general medicine
