Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved in fixed clinical commitments which would be determined by both their clinical training needs and the service requirements of the Institute; an example timetable is outlined below. The focus of this post is HPB medicine. The successful candidate will also undertake 1.5 x specialist HPB clinics a week. All ERCP at Denmark Hill is performed under general anaesthetic and provides an excellent opportunity for training. King's is a specialist paediatric HPB endoscopic centre and the successful candidate will have some exposure to paediatric cases. Training in cholangioscopy and also percutaneous applications of the mini-cholangioscope is also offered. Training in EUS is included in this post including advanced therapeutics. There will be a commitment to completing departmental audits and participating in teaching and research projects.
Post holders will also need to provide occasional ward cover during the day when required supporting the hepatology team.
There will be an element of administrative duties and the post holder will be expected to participate in the GI bleed on call rota as a 1 in 7 with prospective cover.There will be opportunities to perform general endoscopy lists when available.

Qualifications & Registration
Essential criteria
- MRCP or equivalent
- Full registration with GMC
Training and experience
Essential criteria
- Registrar or equivalent training in gastroenterology and/or Hepatology (ST 5 level or above).
Desirable criteria
- Independent upper gastrointestinal endoscopist with some experience in managing variceal bleeding.
Audit & Research
Essential criteria
- Understanding of principles of medical audit and undertaken audit projects
- Understanding of the concept of research. Understanding of research governance and ethics
