Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This post is for a full time clinical fellow (ST3+) within the Department of Haematological Medicine at King's College Hospital Foundation Trust. This post will join the haematology specialist trainees rota. This will provide broad experience in haemato-oncology, laboratory and general haematology, haemoglobinopathy, paediatric haematology and thrombosis. This position will be an ideal opportunity to develop supervised experience in haematology, and for more experience candidates to explore an area of interest. Appointees will be expected to undertake both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research is encouraged. The appointee must have (or be eligible for) GMC registration. A medical degree or diploma and MRCP (or equivalent) from a recognised UK or overseas University or Institution is required. The appointment will be initially for a period of 6 months with the potential for renewal. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for this post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust.

Qualification and training
Essential criteria
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- MB ChB or evidence of equivalent qualification
- MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of experience in clinical +/- laboratory haematology
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service with supervision
Knowledge and skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
- Broad range of IT skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice
Communications and language skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries
Clinical governance and audit
Essential criteria
- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
- Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) scheme and, where relevant, evidence of participation
Teaching and training
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching medical students
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supervising trainees
Research
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the principals involved in research
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of involvement in research
Abilities and aptitude
Essential criteria
- Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff.
