An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our busy but friendly Clinical Coding Team.
If you are Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC), we are looking for an experienced Senior Clinical Coder to enhance our current Clinical Coding Team. You should be enthusiastic about the challenges of a busy working and a constantly changing environment. You must possess the ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to work as part of a team. You should have a proven ability to prioritise, plan and organise your work.
Hours per week: 37.5
Main duties of the job
To provide an efficient and high-quality Clinical Coding service to support the business needs of the Trust, including Clinical Governance, Information Governance and Finance by ensuing accurate, consistent, timely and complete inputting of medical terminology.
To provide consistently recorded data to well defined Clinical Coding standards. The Clinical Coding Department uses the ICD-10 and OPCS 4 classifications to record all diagnoses and procedures for all inpatient and day case admissions.
To assist the Clinical Coding Management to ensure that complete and high quality Clinical Coding is delivered within the timescales set by the Secondary User Service and Payment by Results/National Payment Tariff System.
In order to enhance the original information provided for Clinical Coding and therefore improve the quality of coded information, the job holder will assist the Clinical Coding Management to develop an improved communication system between the Clinical Coding Department and Clinicians and other Medical Professionals.

Essential criteria
- Expert knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS4
Experience
Essential criteria
- Coding experience following NCCQ-Clinical Coding Accreditation.
- Experience of working with clinicians and/or senior managers.
- Experience in mentoring others.
- Transferring coding skills and knowledge to others.
- Experience of coding a variety of specialities.
Desirable criteria
- Presentations to Junior Doctors/Clinicians/others
- Supervisory Experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) Certificate
- Attendance of Clinical. Coding Refresher within the last three years.
- Attendance of Clinical Coding speciality workshops.
Desirable criteria
- AMSPR
