About the Department & Team:

Liberty Specialty Markets Claims department handle claims through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including analysis of new notifications, coverage, liability and quantum, establishing and monitoring appropriate reserves and making claims payments as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help achieve our vision of being a leading provider of claims solutions, delivering a first class claims handling and management service.
  • Work closely with the Delegated Authority Practice Claims Manager, Deputy Head of Claims, Head of the Delegated Authority Practice and Pillar Claims Heads to deliver corporate goals whilst promoting LSM's core values.
  • Whilst technical claims handling resides within the respective claims pillars, the role will require provision of strong technical support and sound claims handling judgement to ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Reports to the Delegated Authority Practice Claims Manager who in turn reports to the
  • Deputy Head of Claims with matrix reporting line to the Head of the Delegated Authority
  • Practice.
  • Work closely with the DAP manager who has responsibility for oversight of the Delegated
  • Authority Practice portfolio and TPA relationships.
  • Responsibility for managing TPA and DAP relationships ensuring compliance with SLAs
  • and standard of claims handling required.
  • Responsibility for overseeing the effective triage for claims referred in to the LSM claims team
  • Ensure the LSM claims reserving philosophy and claims standards are applied at all times.
  • Support the sourcing, selection and onboarding of new TPA service arrangements when necessary.
  • Work closely with all relevant stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the claim/business e.g. TPAs, Coverholders, policyholders, brokers, co-insurers, actuaries and underwriters.
  • Support Monthly (or as required) relationship meetings / calls with TPA and DAP relationships.
  • Support an annual delegated authority audit strategy and delivery, including utilisation of resource
  • Measure compliance with best practice, service and communication through system reporting and internal file audits
  • Collaboration with Claims Operations to improve operational efficiencies and outsourcing of non-technical tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with approved Panel list including provision of direction to external
  • lawyers and adjusters.
  • Support collaboration with claim pillar heads to ensure resource is utilised effectively to meet all referral and other management of TPA/DAP objectives.
  • Work with underwriters and business development managers in order to promote good working practices and relationships with clients.
  • Provide first point of contact for any customer/TPA complaints relating to the team and ensuring these are handled efficiently in accordance with LSM Conduct Policy

Skills and Experience:

  • ACII qualified or working towards
  • Experience in the London Market in relevant classes
  • Requires advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, procedures and
  • techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, IT and product competition within the marketplace.
  • Knowledge of law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions.
  • Ability to effectively interact with brokers and internal departments is essential.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and organization skills.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills also required.
  • Willingness to mix tasks and work in a changing environment to achieve the efficient operation of the claims team
  • Ability to decide the complexity of claims on prescribed rules.
