Job Description
This is an exciting and challenging role for a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to join our growing team of 130+ Civil & Structural Engineers and Designers. Our department covers a range of projects from Concept Studies through to Detailed Design provide a variety of interesting work. Industries can range across Water, Transport and Energy including Green Energy, Nuclear and Oil and Gas.
Working with minimal supervision or guidance, the fundamental requirement of this role is to work with our existing design team including carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications and proposals for key local and regional clients, mainly in the Nuclear sector in the Northwest.
In this hybrid role, you will be based out of our Manchester office, typically 2-3 days per week with occasional visits to other offices and site.

Working with minimal supervision and guidance, the fundamental requirement of this role is to work with our existing design team including carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications and proposals for key local and regional clients.
You will;
- Take responsibility for leading small projects and sub tasks from a technical perspective
- Prepare preliminary and detailed design analysis, calculations, specifications and related documentation for civil and structural works
- Communicate designs effectively to the BIM teams
- Communicate effectively with other disciplines and construction teams
- Communicate confidently and authoritatively with clients
- Challenge and deliver value engineering solutions
- Support and guide more junior team members
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essentials
- Experience within the nuclear industry.
- Good knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements of the discipline.
- Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and of HSE requirements
Desirable
- Experience within the nuclear industry.
- Experience with new and historic structures, including optioneering assessments.
- Experience in leading small teams and supporting more junior engineers.
- Knowledge and experience of common forms of contracts
- Project Management experience
- Requirements Management experience
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum BEng Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartership or Near with ICE or IStructE
- Eligibility for Security Clearance - British National or 5 years residency in UK
Desirable
- Nuclear Industry recognised training and qualifications
- CSCS or CCNSG
- Active Security Clearance
